What do you do when your dog sprained his leg?
Mild sprains should heal on their own. Sprain, unlike strain, is an injury to your dog’s ligaments. Ligament damages can cause joint problems later on so you should assess the severity of this sprain. Signs of a dog leg sprain are:
- Pain
- Swelling
- Limping or lameness
- Inflamed joints
- Licking of the affected area
- Appetite loss
- Decreased activity
These symptoms can occur in a mild sprain as well. If any of these symptoms are still present after 48 hours, you should definitely seek veterinarian help.
