Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Stem cells are special in that they can differentiate into many different types of tissue including bone, fat, liver, and so on.  They occur naturally in the body and are drawn to areas which are damaged. They then quickly act to repair the damaged tissue.

Studies have shown that these stem cells help repair damaged cartilage and bone tissue, decrease inflammation and pain, heal damaged cells, prevent further cell deterioration, and promote active tissue regeneration.

It’s a completely natural therapy – just the body healing itself with a little help from modern technology.

Stem Cell Therapy has been used successfully on many dogs, cats, horses and even camels all over the world.

Stem Cell Therapy  can be a solution for:

  • Ligament and tendon damage in dogs, horses and camels;
  • Orthopedic problems;
  • Arthritis in cats and dogs (alternative for long term pain management drugs);
  • Recovery (after surgery or against aging);
  • Immunomodulation (anti aging treatment, energy boost, better performance, etc)
  • and a lot of other problems that currently do not have many case studies (degenerative myelopathy, feline gingivitis, end-stage renal disease, liver and kidney failure, allergy, auto-immune, inflammatory bowel disease, pulmonary fibrosis, IMHA, atopy, and spine trauma).

Stem cell therapy for animals has been commercially available since 2004. A lot of improvement and studies have been done till now.
Medrego started stem cell research in 2010 and we have come up with innovative and market changing solutions. We started with horse stem cell treatment, but today we also offer treatment for Dogs, Cats, Camels or any other animal.

Safety of the treatment is our top priority.

Our most popular Allogenic (from Donor) stem cell therapy does not even have risks caused by collecting the fat. The product is ready when you need it. The product contains young and healthy stem cells, tested for all possible diseases and preparation is followed by our ISO certification protocol.

For Autologous (animal’s own cells) stem cell therapy the biggest risk is using a general anesthetic, to remove the fat tissue from which we isolate the stem cells. Our partner clinics always carry out a full pre-anesthetic blood test and use the safest available anesthetics. Typically, the fat is collected in about 30 minutes.

In the thousands of animals treated across the world, Vets have not noted side-effects from stem cell therapy.

For more information on safety issues, please, visit our Science & Publications section and see many publications confirming safety.

No, your dog, cat or horse can’t be too old for Stem Cell Therapy.

Since most pets treated are suffering from a disease of old age, arthritis, osteoarthritis. For example, more than half of the dogs treated are over the age of 8.
This is also a reason why we suggest to use young and healthy Donor cells (allogenic), tested to be active for regeneration and always high quality and standardized.

Stem cell treatment will give your pet pain relief as soon as a few days to a few weeks after the injection with further improvement as healing progresses.

Your doctor should also see the first improvements in US (ultrasound) after ~ 2 weeks.
